    When Dr. Marc and I founded BAMA 20 years ago, we couldn’t even dream of what BAMA is today. The challenges, the growth, the collaborations. We have a long way to go but I am convinced that we are well-equipped to face new challenges and follow our mission.

    It’s quite an unique approach for a Foundation to have real-time data handy at all times. Given the infrastructure in the communities, it’s an ongoing challenge. But it’s worth it to make decisions based on evidence.

    I’ve been the District Health Officer of Masaka District since 2006. I am a public health leader and member of the Board of Governors for Kitovu Hospital. Thanks to BAMA, local maternal and newborn health has drastically imporved.

    I am a certified Public Accountant and currently serve as Chief Finance Officer for Rakai District Local Government. I serve as the Board’s treasurer and contribute to strengthening BAMA’s financial management systems.

    I am passionate about translating research into practice, strengthening local capacity, and building resilient health systems. Being part of BAMA allows me to contribute to improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations, especially women, children, adolescents, and older adults.

    Board Member
    As a humanitarian officer, I am dedicated to supporting vulnerable and underprivileged populations. I support BAMA’s community engagement and social inclusion, ensuring that the BAMA’s programs effectively reach marginalized groups.

    I am a financial and governance professional with expertise in micro-finance management, credit and risk management, strategic planning, institutional governance, business development, and community economic empowerment.

    I’m proud to support BAMA in making quality care accessible to every mother and newborn in Uganda.

  • Dr. Rita Florence Matte

    BOARD MEMBER

    I am a public health, nursing, and midwifery professional with extensive expertise in health systems strengthening, nursing and midwifery education, maternal and child health, health workforce development, curriculum development, and institutional leadership.

    Serving on BAMA’s Board is my way of helping build stronger health systems for our communities.

  • Nancy Linda Kalemba

    Board Member
    I am a former presidential candidate with campaigns across all 127 districts of Uganda. I have led maternal and community health initiatives, including Uganda’s COVID-19 food distribution program and the rapid translation of Ministry of Health materials into 50 local languages.

    I am committed to mobilizing resources, strengthening partnerships, and amplifying BAMA’s visibility to save more mothers and children.

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Since 2001, when researching cervical cancer in the Rakai District screening in limited resource settings, I’ve been committed to the health of the women and children of Uganda.

  • Katharina Mueller

    Director of Growth & Development

    Since my tuberculosis, I’ve shared my privileged access to healthcare. Volunteering in Namibia with women and children strengthened my connection to Africa.
