3 Days to Reflect, Connect, and Look Ahead: BAMA’s 2025 Staff Retreat in Jinja
Mid-December, the BAMA team stepped away from our day-to-day work and gathered in Jinja, Uganda, for a 3-day staff retreat: a dedicated moment to pause, reconnect, and prepare for what lies ahead.
Reflecting on 2025
The retreat created space to reflect on 2025’s highlights and achievements. As a team, we looked back on a year defined by growth, innovation, and collective impact. While each staff member shared their individual accomplishments, the overarching theme was clear: progress happens when strong teams work together with a shared purpose.
Strengthening Team Bonds
Beyond reflection, the retreat focused on connection and team bonding. Through team games, shared meals, and open conversations, colleagues strengthened trust and collaboration across departments.
There was also time for joy and adventure — including tubing on the Nile and boat cruses, a reminder that rest, laughter, and shared experiences are essential to sustaining meaningful work.
Celebrating Together
One of the highlights was our annual BAMA dinner, where staff came together to celebrate the year and enjoy a festive Secret Santa moment. It was a simple but meaningful way to recognise one another and end the year on a note of gratitude and togetherness.
Preparing for 2026
As the retreat came to a close, the focus shifted to the future. With renewed energy and alignment, the team began setting intentions for 2026, grounded in the lessons of the past year and a shared commitment to strengthening maternal and newborn health across the communities we serve.
The Jinja retreat was more than time away — it was a reminder that strong teams build strong impact. As we move forward, we do so connected, motivated, and ready for the year ahead.
Pictures say more than a thousand words, so please enjoy some highlights from our retreat.
